Ali Curry House

Ali Curry House is recommended by a hotel manager to us. According to him, Portuguese curry is very famous in Macau and since we are here we should give it a try.

All we were told is the restaurant name is Curry House and it is located at 大馬路 (Dai Ma Road). We rented a MPV to take us here. Even the driver himself is not sure about this restaurant. He was calling his company asking for directions.

And finally we are here.

It is already 8ish when we arrived. The restaurant is already full inside hence we choose seated outside.

Chef recommendations can be fund at the menu.

It was rather cool evening and the waitress put this heather fan near us to keep us comfortable.

There are two type of local beer Macau Beer and Super Bock and we ordered one each to try out. Although both beer taste differently, the beer however are extremely smooth and light. Way very different from Carlsberg and Heineken.

Smoked duck - the meat itself is soft and not oily at all. Goes very well with the vegetables and olive.

Charcoal grilled cuttlefish - thumbs up!! Way different from what we had in Malaysia. I thought it would be hard like what we used to have in KL, but I was wrong. the meat is tender and easy to munch. Even eating without any source it is still very tasty.

Pork neck meat - meat slice extremely thin and super tender. Much better than Awet.

Grill fish with steam vegetable. If you want something simple this will do the trick.

Lamb curry - tender meat and curry tasted very different from what we had in KL

Signature dish of the evening curry crab. The curry not as spicy as our local curry but it goes very well with the crab.. Highly recommended :):)

As the restaurant is just nearby the Macau Tower, we get to enjoyed tower night view from out seat.

We came without reservation so we waited for about 20 mins before we get our seat. So reservation is highly recommended.

Ruins of St Paul

This is my first time visiting Macau- ruins of St Paul is a must visit in my itinerary since this is a famous tourist landmark just like Melaka. When we reached the Mater Dei Square we have no idea we already within vicinity of the historical route..we only realized that we are on Macau  history ground after learning from the tourist information counter nearby. Lucky us :)

The tourist information counter is the yellow building on the left.

The weather is simply great on a Saturday noon with temperature around 18 Celsius.

Not a history person, not a problem..there are a strings of shopping paradise along the way to St Paul. There are sales everywhere and I felt there these shops are wailing hysterically inviting shoppers to drop by. LOL

Musang King at Macau...we overheard the shop owner said, " If you eat this babies here it will only cost you MOP300++, but if you try to buy this at Hong Kong it will cost you HKD600++"..I didn't know musang king can be that expensive here.

If you are getting lost, no worries..look for this signature to lead you the way to Ruins of St Paul

It is getting more and more crowded..

Finally the we saw the St Paul!!

If I know that would be these many people we would come early.

St Paul is actually an university in the 16th Century.

The other side of the wall is being supported by metal pillars to prevent collapse.

The glass box is actually leftover tomb site at the St Paul.

A little memorial place for students to perish in the fire of St Paul.

These skeletons believe belong to the students who perish in the fire of St Paul.

It followed by a small gallery that showcase relic found around the St Paul church.

They also offered guided tour 3 session a day for Saturday,Sunday and PH in Cantonese and Mandarin only.

From St paul, See that crown a like building? That's the Lisboa Casino Hotel belongs to Stanley Ho, the wealthiest person in Macau.

The side view of St Paul

While we were walking down back to the town, people gather at the square for the lion dance

See, it is really crowded for a Saturday afternoon. Lesson learnt: we should be here early in the morning for good quality photo taking :|

Do-It-Yourself Phang Nga Bay Tour (James Bond Island)

The first stop Wat Suwan Kuha
GPS @8.428872,98.471693
We skipped temple as we woke late on that day, so we headed straight to Samchong seafood.

If you are staying at Patong area, it may takes about an hour to reach the temple by car.

Proceed lunch at Samchong Seafood restaurant (GPS@8.305286,98.419374). According to google map, the distance is about 20 mins away from the Wat.

Samchong is a muslim seafood restaurant. They could only speak Thai, but no worry as they have menu in English. You can hire boat here to James Bond island. When we were there, the family seated next table  can speak a bit of Chinese and help us to do the translation.  I suggest you bring along picture of the long tail and James bond island to indicate your intention to hire the long tail boat. The boat rental is RM180 for the whole afternoon (exclude tipping).

The journey from Samchong to the island took about 30mins . James Bond Island is actually a local Marine Park hence we were required to pay entry fees of THB200 per adult For information of the fees structure please see below.

Next the boatman asked if we wanted to try out canoeing. The price per boat is about THB500 per boat if I remember correctly. During the ride, there are other boat nearby selling chill coconut drinks. The ride is about 40 mins. We were reminded by canoe operator to pay tips to their paddlers.

The Boatman then drove us to Koh Panyee, a Muslim Sea Village which has variety of seafood restaurant. We were told we need to pay a small fees if we were to step our foot to the village. By then, we were already exhausted and decide skipped the village and call it a day.

Instead of lunching at Samchong, perhaps next time we will opt to lunch at Koh Panyee then only proceed to James Bond island.

The sun is about to set at the Koh Panyee.

The villagers is sitting by their boat repairing their net. Even the lil one also sitting there helping her mum.

We were lucky enough to catch the glimpse of the eagle on our way back to the pier.

If you prefer a private tour just among your friends, this is quite worth a trip.
